Outta Pocket Exhibition - Voting for the People's Choice Award

If you’d like, you can vote for my piece Symbolism in the Outta Pocket Exhibition’s People’s Choice Award by clicking here. It’s a simple one-page Google form.

I imagine voting closes on August 23rd as awards are announced that evening, so try to vote by August 22nd!

Upcoming: Outta Pocket Exhibition at Manhattan Arts Center

I was juried into the national ceramics exhibition Outta Pocket by juror Nicholas Geankoplis who serves as the ceramics program director at Kansas State University. This exhibition “highlights creative work using clay or ceramics in an atypical, non-traditional, eclectic or eccentric way.” My included piece is Symbolism, which is an acrylic painting on five partially deglazed 19th century ceramic tiles and tile fragments.

Outta Pocket is on exhibit from July 29 - August 23, 2024 at the Manhattan Arts Center, Philip & Jeune Kirmser Gallery, 1520 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS 66502. There will be three show awards announced at the closing reception on August 23.

Upcoming: Nature Homage Juried National Exhibition

I was juried into a national exhibition in Norfolk, Virginia, at the Norfolk d'Art Center! The show is called Nature Homage: A Juried National Exhibition of Animal and Insect Artworks. Juror Tonya Hopson selected two of my paintings, The Seed and Camelflage. If you’re interested in the statistics: 57 works made it into the show out of 396 submissions.

Nature Homage will be on display from March 16 - April 13, 2024. The reception will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 5:30-7:30pm and the d’Art Center will do a Facebook Live of the reception awards as well as upload the award video to YouTube and upload the exhibition online on their archive site.

The d’Art Center’s address is 740 Boush St., Norfolk, VA 23510, if you are in the area and want to check the show out!

Upcoming: 2024 Arizona Aqueous XXXVIII Exhibition

My artwork was juried into the upcoming national 2024 Arizona Aqueous XXXVIII exhibition! Juror Tracy Lynn Ross selected my sparrowhawk mother and child papyrus paintings Syncretism and Potential.

The show will be on display from January 5 - February 25, 2024 in the Tubac Center of the Arts located at 9 Plaza Road, Tubac, AZ 85646. There are awards, so I’ll look forward to the announcement of those - presumably at the opening reception on Friday, January 5th from 5-7pm.

Upcoming: Artists Who Teach Exhibitions

I had to have a short hiatus from exhibiting due to moving and the resultant lack of a valid return shipping address for a few months… but the hiatus is over, and breaking it is Artists Who Teach, a pair of national juried exhibitions linked to National Arts in Education Week that is hosted at the Ellington-White Contemporary Art Gallery as well as the Fayetteville State University Rosenthal Art Gallery over the course of eight weeks from September 14 – November 2, 2019. Both galleries are located in the city of Fayetteville, NC.

Two of my acrylic paintings were juried in by Shane Booth, Soni Martin and Dwight Smith: Volcanic and City Solstice. Awards will be selected by a separate juror, Willis Bing Davis, at the opening reception on September 14th. Let me know if you happen to be in the area and can check either (or both) of the exhibitions out!
